short throw

i just installed a shifter, and it hits the plastic trim piece around the shift boot. has anyone else had this problem? also it rubs on the cat. conv. heat shield. i dented it with a mallet, but not enough i guess.

What brand sts is it? I have a pacesetter. My heat shield has been removed for about 9 months now... I couldn't keep it from scraping. Never heard of the shifter hitting the plastic trim though.

you removed your heatshield with no ill effects? i figured maybe the rubber boot around the bottom of the shifter would melt or something.

im not sure of brand, because i bought it off ebay. it looks like the courtesy nissan one that is pictured in the write-up located in the how-to's. so i believe it is that one.
yeah i have the bend going back, and it still hits the trim when i am in first, third, and fifth. feels almost like it isnt going to go into gear.

I haven't had any problems. I did this after other members on this board suggested it, they had theirs removed and had no problems. I do feel the shifter get a little warm, but not hot. Also, the temperature here in hawaii is always hot. I tried denting the heat shield at first.. It wouldn't scrape at first, but it did later when the heat expanded the heat shield. So I removed it, and never had any problems.
