Hood release issues

Hey all, I have been having a problem with my hood release singe I got the car ooohhh about a year ago. After I pull the lever the hood does not pop up( you know that little pop of about 1-2 in). I have to go and kind of lift the hood with my fingertips till it releases and I can get to the safety catch. Sometimes I have to pull the release lever 2 or 3 times till it will truly un-latch. Now some details, my hood struts are failing in that they will sort of hold the hood up when they feel like it (when they don’t they like to slam down and dent the hood on the tools that are on the intake manifold ) I am also fairly sure the car was in an accident as some of the paint in fresher then others on the car. I would appreciate any ideas as my fingers are getting sore from having to force it open and I just hate not having things work on my car (don’t even get me started on the clock )

My hood does the same thing, doesn't pop up so you can open it.

Anybody know an easy cure for this?

I had this issue. What I did, dont know if it will cure yours is lube the spring assembly on the latch real good with good ol' wd40. Know when I pull the lever it pops up just like it should.

Thanks Flavor, that worked great.

I should have thought of that a long time ago.

Try some grease, it lasts longer.
