I am buying some gen 2 altezza's soon off ebay. It says it come with pre wires harnesses. Has anyone ever had trouble installing these?

Also the black goo around the tail lights, what do you do to replace that?

 

i didn't replace my black goo and the have been on for over a year. no propblems. if your worrid about the black goo use silicon sealer to seal them. install is simple. howle thing takes 30 minutes even if you have no clue what your doing...

seriously its very easy...16 bolts total, 4 per taillight, unhook some harnesses and install new tails!

no i have taken my stocks off before, i have no problem installing the lights. My deal was the goo, and the wiring. I did not know if it connected right up to the stock harness. I have no problme wiring either, just wanted to know what i was getting myself into.

does they look good? I got gunmetal, and my car is dark green. I just hope they look tight.

yea this sounds familiar

i had the exact same issue, many people said they didnt reseal them, but i decided i really wanted to. i used RTV silicon (room temp varient) so it stays soft, and makes a good seal like that stock stuff. I used redclears...i have no idea why you got altezzas :

holy christ... we've all gone over this. my screen name is THREE LETTERS! you are welcome for the info, and you had to hear my opinions, i helped so i can complain if i want to

 

sticking to the subject, just be careful of the deadly black goo when you remove the stock lights; and if you don't use new sealant for the new lights, just make sure you screw those suckers in REAL tight so they don't leak.

other than that, won't take very long at all...i'm a mechanical and it took me about 40 minutes (most of that was because of the "goo").

 

most of the time for me was getting those stupid wiring harnesses off of the back of the light housings. the way they are set up makes them really a b!tch to unhook. Also, one side of one of my tails sticks out a little bit, anyone got any ideas on that?

 

SXN.... you need to loosen the nut all over again and start tightening the nut in a kris cross pattern. don't tighten one side and then thighten the other side. And do it in stages.. first make the nuts snug then slow tighten in kris cross pattern. But don't ever over tighten because it will crack the housing or strip the studs.

ahhh so you did take my advice on the silicon...



make sure it's nice and warm out when you're taking your lights out. makes it much easier. otherwise, can be much harder and more of a pain to do when cold. i've learned that the hard way. but now since i've switched out my tails about 4 or more times, it's real easy to do by now. (stock --> altezzas --> painted stock --> red/clears --> painted stock) prolly will do it again soon too for more fun

 

well, i DID tighten them in a criss cross pattern. I guess i can start with that side next time instead...it bugs me, but its not noticable unless you run your hand across the tail, and feel the little bump, or stare at it constantly like me thanks, i will try that again.

Jepht20, of course i listened to you it worked very well, and almost immediately after it finished curing, a rain storm started. hasnt leaked a drop thanks man

 

just hope u dont get a defective lens like i got , now i have to send them back this week.

Yeah the led on the driverside trunk lid does not light up. And by the way Torgus, wut did u do about urs if u didnt send them back, did u find a way to fix them?

 

i will be so ****ed if this happenes to me? Did just one led or like the all of them. has anyone ever tried those platnuim yellow bulbs? Since i got ginmetal...i thought that the platnuim bulbs would be less noticable.

 

well they are all on one resistor (or should be) so imagine the whole side went out., not just one LED. The gunmetal ones are much better looking than chrome, but i wont go into my opions about altezzas

 

Which GEN 2's would look best on a white Max, chrome or gunmetal?

and on the subject of bashing CM, the first set of diamond cut corners they sent me didn't have the reflective plating stuff on the inside. 's

 

whats wrong with that? it would look less ricey

 

the darker colors look better with gunmetal...the lighter colors would ook better with chrome

 

and all maximas look better without altezzas
