A few days ago, I got a recall notice from Nissan. I was wondering what's up this time. A few years back, my Maxima was recalled to have the power steering hose clamp loosened. This time, they just mention a potential problem, no details given. I was wondering if anyone else received the notice in the mail and if you had the car checked out.

I'll call the dealer tomorrow and see if I can find out something about this... I'll try and remember to post again tomorrow after I call.

Got one here too

Just states to come in for a computerized factory service check and a complimentary (FREE!) oil change... Suspicious (LOL!)

What was the recall on the power steering hose clamp and what year car did it effect. My power steering hose started leaking from around the clamp, and the dealer wanted $90.00 to replace the hose clamp.

Recall

Hmmmm...I had the first recall serviced in the end of 98 I believe. I think your car was affected. That was the potential problem the recall slip stated, "Failure to correct the problem may cause the hose and clamp to break, leak, and lose steering performance. As for this new recall, the free oil change would be nice, but I just changed my oil a month ago with synthetic.

I called my dealer a few minutes ago.. service manager said he hadn't heard about any new recalls yet, and he ran my VIN through their computer and it didn't come up with any. Kevin - is your car Cali-spec emissions? Please post when you find out what the letter means.

yes, I'm a cali-spec

I'll head to the dealer on the weekend and figure out what is wrong. I'll you all informed. I'm surprised 98SE/Auto/Rosewood never got a recall notice for the hose clamp. I guess I'm glad I had mine serviced. Maybe you can have Nissan compensate you for the repair cost?
