The stock cat has 2.5" inlet and outlet. It will work fine.

Yes you can take off the cat. I'm not sure that there are any big gains. probably a 2-5 HP. Not much of a gain. I took off my cat when I didn't know much about my car. I also took it off before I had an aftermarket muffler. I first got a 2.75 inch race pipe before I had ordered my WarpSpeed Y-Pipe. I put on the Y-pipe then my tock muffler sounded crazy! Recently I put on my 60 Series Flowmaster but I had to put a glass pack on the race-pipe to quiet my car down. Mow I have a glass pack in the middle of my race-pipe. My exhaust has a deep and mellow tone I like it alot nice a low but on the WOT it sounds damn good.

So you can do whatever you like. If you take off the cat and do a catback don't expect it to be quiet by any means. And be careful what you pair up with it. Get a muffler that carries a deep tone. My friend has a straight through aftermarket custom catback done on his car. 2.5 inch piping ALL the way through (even that pipe that goes around the spare tire well) he paired that up with a Magnaflow Universal Muffler.....to say the least....Good luck hearing a conversation in that damned car!

BUt do what you want it all come down to personal preference.

Good Luck! Have Fun! And give us some kill stories later on!

I have a Budget Y and WS exhaust. I swapped my cat for a straight pipe because my cat had failed. If you do it, be prepared for the smell.
It smells pretty bad of exhaust so you know its not good for the enviroment but unless somone wants to BUY me a cat, dont flame.

u may get 1 or 2 hp gain over stock cat...buts its better than stright pipe cause u will burn off all the pollution. be prepared to have your cel light on cause there is no spot for the post cat o2 sensor.

Smell what smell? I've had my cat off for months and never noticed a thing! Oh yeah just have someone weld the O2 sensor into the race pipe don't fry the sensor! I did that and haven't noticed and check engine light.

P.S. Sorry about the double post
