What sound does your ABS make?
Mine sounds like metal scraping against the road or something. It's not the usual "clicking" I get with most cars. Is this normal? I know it's working correctly because I feel the brakes releasing/grabbing, but the sound sure is weird.

Ok, just making sure. And I agree that it engages way too easily. I'm in Canada too and at every corner where there's snow or ice, they click on. Pain in the *** if you ask me. I don't want to take out the fuse since they might come in handy in emergency situations.
Alright, ABS is NOT suposed to sound like metal clanking! lol.... it is suposed to sound like a Hummming noise, and a very fast pulsating noise. it is NOT suposed to be very loud.
and since we are on the subject, if your ABS seems to kick in to easy, then check your tire pressure, how good your tires are, and if your shocks/stuts are going bad. these are the main reasons why ABS may kick in under non-emergancy conditions.

mainly under inflated... but can be also over inflated. this is how abs works.
it detects wheel slippage, either stoping, or going. lets focus on stoping. when you stop, and you have incorrect psi, it will not get the correct traction as the other wheels, so therfore abs will kick in. (only applys for stoping.) if you have bad shocks, the the same applys. the dampering is too soft, and the wheel will leave the ground for too long, and once again, abs kicks in. now, when you are spinning your tires in snow, or if you do a really long burn out (sometimes) your abs light will come on because of the huge diffreance in speed from the front and rear tires.

hope that helps.

it normally only come on if you are spinning your tires A lOT in the snow. there was only once where it came on for me when doing a really big burnout.

i am not saying it is bad... just abnormal. i have owned 4 maxima's, and all the abs systems were quite, and could not only really feel it through the pedal. the only one that made alot of noise was my 93 maxima... but it had almost 200,000 miles on it...
i am not sure if that sound is bad or not, but i know that a metal sound is never a good sound...
