http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/479058/5

i spent a lot of time on it, and i think it came out great. it is much better then the other write up's i have found over here. i hope that all the trouble i went through making mistakes and destroying boards benifits others. enjoy!

also, on the same page is a write up for retrofitting #194 bulbs in 98-99 maxima's as well... pictures will soon be posted for that.

i spent two nights working on it... so about 10 hours... but i kept on making A LOT of mistakes. i ruined one board, and almost destroyed another... but i just took my time and did the best i could because i really do not have the money to go out any buy a new switch panel. you guys can make fun of me if you want for taking so long, but i have no experiance on doing this, and i didn't want to rush it. lol.

but thanks to everyone else of the Pos. feedback... makes make feel like i should keep on doing write up's for you guys! try and keep this thread going, i want everyone to see it so they can bookmark it just in case they want to do it. thanks.

Chris, amazing like usual. This and the last write up are great. the text is visible, so dont worry now that there is a GOOD set of instructions for this, i want to do it dont be a stranger, go to the 4th Gen How To thread, and post this up. I need to get a mod to update it (ive bugged a few of them....) just post a link as a new reply to the thread, no biggie.

hey in the pic the front passenger and rear driver switches are brighter. the switch i bought with leds already installed is like this also. is this just an inherent problem with these? does anyone else notice that in the pic? or on their car?

Great writeup! I did a mod similar to this in my previous car (99 Passat), and I had some hot spots in the switches, so I ground the top "dome" of the led down so it's flat, then the light disperses much more evenly. I don't have pics unfortunately.

I know i could have done that, but i didn't want to. i wanted to have the brightest LED's as posable, and the highest i found for 3mm was 4000 mcd, where the highest on a 5mm is 6000mcd. as you can see, that is a big diffrence, so i decided just to do the extra step. and with the T1, i was not sure if i could find a very bright T1, so once again i just used the 5mm.

But thanks!

True, they are hard to find in high intensity...I have red T1's in my car, the oval ones look fine, but the letters are darker, they used what looks like an almost white plastic, which kills the light

don't even bother going to a retail store.. (ie. radio shack) they charge alot more money then the LED is actually worth. ($2.50 per LED for a good one) i got mine off of ebay and they are great.i had one bad LED of of the bunch i got. and i only paid $6 for all of them! just look online and type "blue 5mm Led 6000" or if you want 3mm then "blue 3mm led 4000"

I guess not.

LOL i'm just kidding man. well, here is the reason why i think the drivers side is dimmer then the rest. when doing the drivers side, is a little hard to get the led's pointing striaght up into the switch and to get it closer to the switch. but on the other switches, especialy the rears, the led is sticking up much futher from the board, so hence the light will be brighter.

well thats what i think from my experiance anyway.

hey chris, did you run into any snags while doing it? You got the intructions pretty much down to a T, but did it take more than one try? what are the trouble areas to watch out for.

you think the 5mm led's will blow overtime because of the different power requirement?

Will regular 3mm led work? what's the dif of a T1 led?

hey.. i read somewhere on the forum that you would need resistors for each led you install??? do i have to or can i chose a certain led that doesnt require a resistor on each one. can someone clear that up for me?

you only need resistors if the led you are using cant handle the power output. but in this case the leds are rated to handle the power. oh yea can you take a differnet pic of how you did the back leds? alittle confusing, more pics would clarify. thanks

only time you use resistors is for a voltage drop. Araffio for example used them on his tail lights. stock power was too much for the LEDs...so the resistors lowered that so the LEDs didnt explode. why would the back LEDs be confusing to you...

12 volts... but you have to understand, there are already resistors on the board... so you don't have to go buy them. this is simple plug and play my friend!
