very disappointed!

This morning Me, my friend and my brother were at RAMSEY NISSAN dealer to pick up my Fathers 03 Pathfinder. The reason is because the temp. Sensor was reading wrong. I was in my brother 95 modded 5speed maxima. Once both Cars got their oil changed we were ready to go. My brother was in the pathfinder, while me and my friend were in the maxima. (soon to be mine). Since I didnt know how to get back home I had to follow him. While I was following him I had to make sure I didnt miss a gear or start drifting behind. I was in 4th and 5th gear, and noticed when I was drifting from him (in 4th gear) I had to catch back up to him so I started pushing on the gas. To my surprise the car didnt push/move as responsive as I thought it would. I noticed that it was running really slow so my question is.. is the maxima running slow due that its cold here in Nj or is it because we dont have the Y-Pipe in??

Im not the best 5speed driver. I Cant shift as fast as my Brother.. Maybe I was in a high Gear? Maybe the maxima doesnt pull hard around 60-80mph.. I dont know but can someone please tell me why it would soo slow!?

Im just really disappointed

So what's going on? Nobody comes to this forum for english lessons, so I'm not usually one of those guys who whines about how people spell/use grammar, but it's really hard to understand your post. You're saying that you were following your brother's modded max in a pathfinder? Or were you in another maxima and couldn't keep up?

Well, what does your brother's max have under the hood? Sounds to me like you just dont know how to drive a 5 speed. At what point were you shifting? 2500, 3500, 4500 rpms or what? Do you know how to downshift? Keep practicing (not in the max) and soon you should be able to hold your own. The cold air should actually help your rides performance, but I am in Texas so what do I know about cold air?

Definitely not cold air, why would they make a cold air intake if it slowed your car down. So you were in fourth and it pulled slow at those speeds? Sounds like the max has some problems.

i was in 4th gear doing about 3k-4.5krpm but im really worried to down shift fast and miss a gear and then over revv the engine. I usually down shift when the rpms are around 2k.

If your bro is pulling a way at a rapid pace, you gotta downshift to expect to keep up. No need for a fast downshift, just downshift and go!

I read it perfectly. Its not his grammar, its your ability to comprehend, even with a couple of gramatical errors.

Lack of Y-pipe wouldn't really be the determining factor. Have you been in another car w/a y-pipe to notice the difference? T

his is a very vague question to really answer correctly.

Dont need to because I know the maxima has more high end power with the Y-Pipe on. I know this because we did have it on in the past intill Inspection came along! lol

if you were in 4th and around 3.5-4K and punched it, it should have felt good, thats where the torque is...you were going around...80 at the time?

cold weather would have made the maxima faster than usual (as long as the tires can grip) it honestly sounds like you cant drive a stick, how fast was he going that you had to have been in 4th or 5th for that matter? if you were catching up...down shift. dont bog the damn thing down, then complain about a lack of power

Look at the time. He edited his post. I can read it now. Before, it had almost no punctuation, like a single sentence. I don't need any **** about my comprehension.

you should have down shift to 3rd gear, hit full throttle, when you hit redline, shift to 4th gear. this is the only way to help you catch up with him.

If you have so many mods on your car you should know that something is wrong. Is the CEL on? Check the codes. Unless your exagerating greatly when you say nothing happened punching it at 3.5K there is definitely something wrong.

It's clear you don't know how to drive the car yet. When driving a stick you have to know where the power is and how to get to that point quickly. I can assure you that 4th or 5th gear at 3500-4000 rpms is not where the power is in that car. The car is a dog in 5th gear at 4000 rpms.
