Dissapointing Dyno results...
Last weekend I went to a grand opening of this import tuner shop and had my car dyno-ed (it was a $15 promo) I was dissappointed.
I only did one run but the car did 121.9Hp @~ 5300 rpm, Tq was 144.0@ 4200 rpm. I have a CAI, UDP, Lightweight flywheel and Y-pipe. These numbers were dissappointing. This was the second time I had my car dyno-ed the first time my car had no mods the numbers were roughly ~113Hp and ~132 ft-lbs of tq -I couldn't find my old print-out but these numbers are close +/-. I live in colorado and have the VG engine new distributor, injectors and timing belt. Could altitude have this big of an effect on performance or is my car in need of some work?

Thanks I'll take a look. I do have a fairly new O2 Sensor but I think my vacume lines are pretty old. But, to make my self feel better my brother has about 5k+ into his Focus and he dynoed at only 123 hp and 133 tq (not dyno tuned yet).

Altitude is a factor..........
Altitude, temperature and barometric pressure have a big affect on any NA engine performance. Ask the dyno shop to correct their readings for the above and you should see some better numbers. Also I have seen wide variations from dyno to dyno on readings. So it does no good to compare numbers from different dynos..

The temp here has been on average 95 and it was close to that when I got my car dyno-ed, and the elevation is 5003 ft. Mybe I'll shell out the $60 and get dyno-ed on a shop with a good reputation after I put in a set of new plugs.

definently get your car tuned up and re-do the dyno....an old member Hojo dynoed his VG auto(only mods were 2.5" catback and intake) and he dynoed ~127hp.....so you should definently be in the mid/high 130's or low 140s plus you're a 5spd!!!
DEFINENTLY TRY IT AGAIN!!!

Re: Dissapointing Dyno results...
I think altitude has made a big difference. But then again I also seen a 5spd VG with intake, Y pipe dyno 117whp/44wtq ? Never the less that person was very upset .

Its the elevation that made your numbers so low. People many times don't realize this.
Mr. Cranman dynod his 5spd VQ with JWT ECU, Variable Intake, and all the other basic bolt ons at 155hp. Corrected, his numbers work out to upwards of 195hp at the wheels. He is in New Mexico at 5500 feet, similar to the elevation in Denver.

Any reputable shop using a true Dynojet 248 should have the program in house that takes elevation into consideration when calculating the dyno results. There should be a "CF" Correction factor on the printout.
