Oxygenated Gas? Your thoughts on the subject.

Well, I have noticed that my max seems to have lost some power. It also does not idle like silk anymore. Off the light, it feels like I have a fat guy in my back seat slowing me down. I recenbtly had asystem pu in the car, but its only my 5 channel amp and a single 10' in a box. So the added 30 lb's if that can't possibly be the culprit. This summer, my max was great ( it was our first summer together- I did alot of maintence on her and treated her with kid gloves - She was an animal!) Now, since about 2 weeks ago, she seems to be sluggish. Not sluggish like she is ready to die, but definately not her peepy self. Do you think its oxygenated gas? Anybody feel a difference in their max? Also, lets not even begin to talk about my crfappy gas mileage as of late. Anybody else with me?

I don't think the petrol is your problem. I have used 87 octane regular unleaded and you know what? My car still has wheel hop in the rain. The 190/205 setup is still too much motor for the chassis/driveline. I find it very hard to believe that oxygenated petrol is like putting Dom DeLuise in your back seat. Your gas mileage is a hint that the motor is not running properly, but look to your mods, not your fuel.

could it be the knock sensor? that would give you crappy gas milage, and sluggish performance... plus it wont throw a CEL unless you check it anyways.

Don't get me wrong- I can still chirp the tires from the line, It juist doesnt seem to pull the way it was 2 weeks ago. Okay. maybe I am exaggerating a little. It doesn't feel like I have fat guy in my rear seat, it just feels a little slow. I used to feel the torque during take offs from green lights. now it just comes up a little short. My car is stock!

don't worry.. it's the oxygenated gas. I hate nj for that reason. Ever since nov 1st, when they changed over, my gas mileage is down about 3 - 5 mpg (depending on driving conditions) and there's less power. oxygenated gas can suck me hard

It could be that generally when the weather gets cold, your car dosn't feel as peppy as it does in the summer, also gas mileage slightly decreases as the weather gets colder, since your car has to work harder to reach it's peak operating temp.

More than likely it's the gas. I've noticed my MPGs took a pretty hard hit too (down ~2mpg) and my car feels a bit more laggy from idle to 4000rpms. I notice this every year in December. Those that don't live in climates that get below 40 degrees don't have to bother with this crap.
