Spoiler Light replacement/repair
Spoiler Light replacement/repair
Does anyone know how to repair the stoplight for the spoiler? I have a 96 SE which I bought used back in 2000 and the spoiler stop light has never worked. I remember reading about repairing the spoiler led awhile back. Now I can't remember where I saw the material. I have checked the fuse and it is intact. I would prefer to repair rather than replace the part if possible. Does anyone know how or where I can find how to repair the led or where I can buy the LED at a discounted price. I don't want to go the Stealership route if that can be avoided.
there are a few choices.
1 buy new oem light. easy but expensive, cost about $170
2 open up light and fixing. hard but cheap.
3 buy a clear led light that emits red. requires modification to fit, looks slick, cost $30
Id try fixing the OEM light first, if no luck then try the clear light....hey why not.
Here are a few helpful links.

Did the light work at one point EVER, or not? When I installed my spoiler, in order to get the brake light ( yes, the light in the spoiler that ONLY goes on when you brake), the car had to be running while the wires were being spliced. I dont know why, but it works now.
If you pull down the lining of the trunk, you should be able to see the harness where the spooiler LED hooks up the the brake line. I THINK it's in blue tape more towards the driver side. It may not be in blue tape, but you will be able to see the (white on mine) harness that connects the 2 wires. Unplug this, start the car, then plug it back in. It's worth a shot, rather than spending the $$ on a new light.
