w00t! A fellow Ottawa-ian.

Could be either your clutch or the tranny fluid. I'd change the fluid first. ;-)

just get rid of the car, my 96 five speed is a headache. The clutch went so I replaced it, then nissans manufacturing error of differential bearings went costing another 800 dollars and when that went it sprayed oil all over my 3 month old clutch, destroying it, so just get rid of it before you drop in 1500 dollars. im very ****ed off right now, because i just got these news.

agree, most likely the synchronizer in the transmission, but yeah, those 95/96 trannies do suck!

when my 96 tranny was going away, it would slip out of 3rd if you breathed on it wrong. ended up being the 3rd gear ring wearing away from too much free play in the differential bearing.

Ever thought of getting the whole tranny rebuilt? $1500 or even $2000 for the job isn't so bad if you compare it to having car payments when you get a new car. But if you can afford a new one, why not?
