thottle body

thottle body

ok probly a stupid question but how do i clean my throttle body? i have a feeling my car's hesitation when starting is due to a dirty tb....any suggestions?

Use the Entropy provided link above. I deviated from the link's instructions a bit:

Instead of using carborator cleaner, I just soaked a rag in gasoline. Also, a toothbrush wasn't nessicary to remove carbon buildup, just a rag and gasoline worked great. You might as well tighten the throttle cables while you got the hood open if you haven't before.

Does using sea-foam take away the need to clean the TB?

No - the throttle body is an air passage... sea foam will only affect your injectors or carbon deposits on the inside of the engine (depending on whether you use it in your fuel or in your oil).

The gunk on the throttle body is from dirt in the air and (more so) air coming into your throttle body from your valve covers.
