97-99 auto climate control work in a 95?

I dont know about all you 95-96 Max owners, but I HATE the fact that the auto climate control doesnt illuminate! I mean the buttons...Sure the screen does and that is all well and good but I hate fishing around in the dark for the buttons. I have been looking for a 97-99 climate control unit because I know the buttons illuminate but I wanted to make sure that it will work in my 95...Will it just be plug and play or are the connectors in the back different? Anyway, last post of the evening. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas...Now for the new year celebrations!

my friend had a 97 before he got his 2k3 and they lit up, just take it out and check the bulbs in the back.

Its the only option you have, so just check them.

Geo...your friend had a 97 and I know for sure they light up because I have seen pics. The 97 Climate control is different from the 95. I am pretty sure the 95-96 controls dont light up.

Does anyone know for sure about whether the 97-99 climate control working in a 95-96??? Geo says it wont work but I have also heard that it WILL work. Conflicting info!! Ahhh, if it wont...WHY? Same size, same everything I thought...

95-97 have the same climate control and it does light up. 98-99 have different button arrangements and you can install the "AMB"( spell?) temp button.

I agree, I remember when I first got my 95 max (in 98) and the buttons lit up....I didnt notice at the time it happened, but over a long period of time, they burnt out. It must be quite common for them to burn out in the first 4 years. So, can you change the CC from a 98 to a 95? Is the wiring harness the same even though the button config is not?

99 had the AMB button and 98's can add it. if you look at the haynes manual the 95-97 and 98-99 have totaly different systems and harnesses.

Also you have the realize that the bulbs are halogen so they have a short life time(compared to LED's) and the 95-96 car are getting up on their age so bulbs will start burning out.

PM "DaveB" he works at a Nissan parts Dep. and gets very good prices, just tell him what you need and he will hook you up.

Another option is this, but you will have to do some work with it to make these bubs work.

You can see in this post what the bulbs look like with the sockets, they should be the same as the 5th gen if not very similar

Now go and donate so that you can do all the research your self next time, search is a wonderful thing

I had this problem about 3 months ago. I went to Radio shack and bought these bulbs...Radio Shack P/N : 272-1092
Bulb number : #7219

They seem to work fine for right now....I plan on continuing my Blue led project and attack the Auto Climate control pretty soon

Success! There are 4 bulbs behind the auto CC. I used the radio shack bulbs and tried to put the bulb condoms on the new bulbs but they were melted on to the old bulbs. Anyway, now my gauges are like a red tint. I dont think I am going to like that for long. Does anyone know if the bulbs that you get from the dealer come with the bulb condom already over the bulb? I am thinking of going in tomorrow and putting in the order for 4...I doubt they come in the harness too...Anyone?

There are 4 bulbs behind the auto A/C. Once you have access to the back of the Unit and remove the 4 phillip screws, the bulbs are attached to them.. Just swap out the old and put the blue condoms on the new if they are in any good condition.

If I go to the dealer and order the bulbs will they come with the blue condom already on? Or is that also a seperate part? I tried putting the old on the radio shack bulbs I got but the condom was melted onto the old bulbs and wouldnt come off...they started to peel...
