Hi All:

I brought my car to a Firestone Auto Center for some tire work and they talked me into a scheduled maintenance check. They replaced my sparkplugs with non-platinum BOSCH plugs. Had trouble starting the car when cold out below 35 degrees.

I brought the car to a Nissan dealer and they replaced the plugs with new platinums, plus changed the air and gas filters.

So far so good.

Anyone have any experiences using non-platinum plugs?

Are they really required?

NGK platinum are recommended for the Max. In a pinch, I would use copper NGK plugs, but never Bosch! In fact, the copper plugs may run even better than the platinum (less resistance), but will require more frequent replacement.
