Torque on knock sensor

I have looked at the recent posts on knock sensors and they mentioned different foot-lbs values. I think one said 60 ft-lbs but the motorvate article says 15-20 ft-lbs. Which is right?

I guess the more important question is ... without a torque wrench what is a good rule of thumb on how how to tighten the bolt to the appropriate tightness?

15-20 seems more like it. 60 is alot of torque on something like that

If you torque the ks with a universal joint and an extension inclined say at 60 deg, torquing measurement gets a little more complicated.

With a 60 deg incline, the actual torque transmitted to the ks bolt will be 60 ft-lbs x cos(60 deg) = 60 x 0,5 = 30 ft lbs. I estimate the angle of the extension bar at 60 deg measured from a vertical posotion, when reaching the ks with a extension and universal joint.

The FSM agrees with motorvate. 15-20 ft-lbs. Since you can't really get a torque wrench in there without removing the lower intake manifold, just get it good and tight by hand with a small 12mm wrench and you'll be fine.
