Need Help!! Code 0201
I threw a 0201 code which is the primary ignition signal circuit fault. I have already replace my coil packs and ecu but my car is not starting. I know I am getting both soark and fuel, it also cranks over pretty fast but I can see my camshaft turning. ANy ideas what it could be? I also have order a new iginition condenser which I have no clue what it does but I am desperate and it was cheap. any input would be greatly appreciated.

0201
Diagnostic Trouble Code 0201 indicates a problem with the ignition coil and power transistor. The ignition signal from the Engine Control Module is sent to and amplified by the power transistor. The power transistor turns on and off the ignition coil primary circuit. This on-off operation induces the proper high voltage in the coil secondary circuit.
The malfunction is detected when the ignition signal in the primary circuit is not entered during engine cranking or running.
The items to check include
- Harness or connectors (the ignition primary circuit is open or shorted.)
- Power transistor unit built into ignition coil
- Condenser
- Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF)
- Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF) circuit
A misfire on any individual cylinder should set a code, and a problem with the CPS should also set a code.
I would have expected to see DTC 0201 along with one of the following DTCs.
0407 - Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF)
0608 - Cylinder 1 misfire
0607 - Cylinder 2 misfire
0606 - Cylinder 3 misfire
0605 - Cylinder 4 misfire
0604 - Cylinder 5 misfire
0603 - Cylinder 6 misfire
You didn't get one of these "companion" DTCs, and that is puzzling. Maybe one of them will show up in the next few days.

Well the condenser didn't improve the problem. My car still doesn't start, I'm running out of ideas. Everytime that I crank it over, it turns over and I can hear it sputter slightly from my exhaust like its almost going to start. I haven't gotten any "companion" codes, all I'm getting is 0201. So far I know that my original set of coil packs are fried (cuz I tested them against the ones I have now and those don't put out a spark) and I have replaced the ignition condenser and also the ecu (direct swap from a another 98). The only other thing that I can come up with its that maybe my engine wiring harness is bad, since both my ecu and coil packs were fried maybe my wires in the harness are gone too? But why am I still able to get spark to the plugs then?
I think i may have to take the car to the dealership but I am afraid they won't even be able to find the problem plus they'll probably charge me a lot of money to find the problem let alone fix it, but before then maybe one of you guys know something else that I haven't figured out.
Kevlo- what harness are you talking about in post #2? Is that the engine wiring harness or something different?

- Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF)
- Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF) circuit
that is probily why the car will not start. Check/Clean/Replace the sensor.
Did you check the harness/connectos for hte ignition coils and power transistor?
