Okay, I need some input. I have been looking around for a Black 97-99 Maxima for quite some time now. Well, no luck in my area, so I have found one in the next state over, it's only 370 miles from where I live. It is the one I want. Here is the link:

Is it a great deal for $8900? Would it be worth the trip driving from my state to this? I'm not sure on the interior, cloth or leather, take your pick. But it is the car I want. Anywho, what do you all think I should do? Because I have been looking for a car just like this for a few months now.

Just kidding. 370 miles, that's pretty far. imho you can do better on the price, because 4th gens are a dime a dozen. I saw cars for sale at a Nissan dealer in central NJ 1 year ago in the 8000 range. That being said, I like the idea of buying from an authorized dealer because you have is it 3 mos? to find everything wrong with it and get it corrected. And repairs are not cheap if not under warranty, like alternator, air bags, and EVAP. These are 3 KNOWN issues on 4th gens--you don't get them fixed under warranty and you're looking at nearly 2 grand in repairs. Good luck with your search--maybe if you can get them into the mid 7's to high 7's you'll have something to talk about. We Americans are rather shy about haggling--all you have to do is ask.
http://www.ebaymotors.com most of those Maximas are going for cheap
check with www.autotrader.com this is a good site to me it looks like a gxe with someone slapping a spoiler on it its rims are from 95 96 and no fogs something seems fishy to me

Well, I found a '99 Maxima, the guy says it's in "impecable" condititon. Wrong! When I went to test drive it, there were tons of paint chips all over the hood and bumper. The guy wants $8900 for it. It's a Crimson Red, SE-L. Cloth interior with a sun roof, spoiler, 5spd with +90,000 miles on it. I like the color, but my dad doesn't. He says that the resale value will be a lot less than what I would pay for
. Here is the link to this one:

There are pictures for it. The whole hood and bumper would need to be re-painted/replaced because the chips are really deep. If I were to get the car, what price should/would I offer for the car? Everything else with it seems fine, except for the color(according to my dad) and the rock chips.

If he lied about the condition of the car, expect more internal problems with the car. I would probably buy it for $7000 and maybe expect $1000 in repairs (not the paint).
Just cover up the front of the car with a hood bra

I wouldnt buy from a dealer in the first place anyway, unless they had a really hard to find car that I couldnt get anywhere else. This dealer doesnt look that great. With that kind of mileage, its good to have the history and records for the car available, and youre not going to find that at most dealers... youre also never going to know what kind of person put those 84k on there; may have been an old lady, or an irresponsible kid. Plus, youve gotta deal with taxes and all the other bull**** charges associated with dealers. Unless youre getting some sort of warranty with the car, I think private sellers are always a better way to go. Plus, private sellers usually ask less and you can haggle them down more. Just my 2 cents.
If you are even thinking about driving to look at a car I would call the dealer and ask for any information that he has. then you will know if its at least taking a look at. for all you know it could have a salvage title- for some people that is ok and some its not; but if it is, it should be alot less than that.
that car is definitely a gxe, with the chrome handles and chrome grille. 9g's for a 98 gxe 5 speed isn't a bargain at all.
i bought my superblack 98 se with 80k miles in good condition for 8g's last summer. I see max's go for 6-7 now. 370miles is a 6 hour drive man. Go find another place, they'll pop up i'm sure. It took me half a year to find this one.
Use autotrader with their advanced search. They yield better results than cars.com. Good luck!

check the vin through carfax and look for any accidents. Also, carfax may not show all accidents, so best bet is to take a mechanic w/you and see it for yourself. Its a fair price, but its in your best judgement. Dont jump on impulse, im pretty sure you can find a better deal if you wait.
btw, i bought my 97 GXE w/32,000 miles for 9,000. Carfax said it had no accidents, but after careful scrutiny, turned out there was a minor accident to the bumper where it was not reported. So be careful
