Radio Replaced, Now New Clarion Radio Hisses air noises through the speakers even...

hello everyone happy 04 to you all. i recently replaced a bose system on my 1996 nissan maxima. it was broken, so i put a clarion headunit i had from previous years. it works jolly, only thing is is that there is a hissing sound coming fromt he speakers, like some popping noises very few though, and in addition theres sound coming from the system even at 0 volume on the volume control. im baffled if anyone could help i would love them forever. thanks

ahh wrong forum buddy, but did you know that bose system has an external amplifier? Yeah so if your clarion headunit comes with internal amplifier it's not going to work very well, and I would expect the bose amp to go soon too!!!

If you don't know if it comes with internal amplifier look for writtings on head unit like 30x4, 35x4, 40x4, 45x4 and so on.

BTW did gxe's come with bose system?

if you didnt replace the speakers than the amplifiers are most likely your problem. i think crutchfield has an adapter to correct the problem but i'm not sure how well it works.

you need an adapter and chances are that you already blew your BOSE speakers so you need a new set. Might as well just get aftermarket speakers and forget the adapter.

what do you mean forget adapter. You can't play system that is amplified straight thru the amp. It will cause distorsion. I dought you blew your speakers but I would either do the adapter thing or just invest in aftermarket non-powered headunit. Like Alpine

Well if he blew his BOSE speakers, he might as well just get aftermarket speakers and forget the adapter. I don't know why I'm writing this since I wrote the same thing in the previous post. Re-read it.

well I asked the guy the same but he hasn't responded yet, so I guess I will assume that some how he got a BOSE in there.

And I seriously dought that he blew his speakers yet. Bose speakers are monsters, everybody who sits in my car asks me do I have a sub in my car.

So what if they are monsters. They aren't meant to work without the adapter. I had mine without the adapter for maybe 2 days before they blew, never even cranked it high. The frequency and that stuff messed them up. Also since when can't GXEs have BOSE? It was probably an option he got at the dealer. It's spelled DOUBT not DOUGHT.

the car i have is a gle i messed up when listing it, i installed a new clarion 45w 5 whatever that means it sais on it, its nonpowerd i think, i heard theres a gain switch on the amp that can tune down the amount of power it lets out. all the speakers are fine none are broken, or busted. when i boost the radio full blast it sounds nice, and no hissing anymore but thats probably cause its too loud already. i used to have an aiwa regular house piece and when i switched the speakers it sounded like shizatch, and thats what i feel now, when its low of lower than half way it hisses, as if there is like 1000 watts trying to pump through nothing, is there another switch i can set to lower the amp?
