Blinking airbag light

My 98 se Auto airbag light has been blinking for a few months now. I called my local dealership. They want to charge me $60-75 to analyze the problem, telling me it may be an expensive job depending on the problem. Does anybody have the same problem as I do?
I reset the airbag light many times and after a few days, it starts blinking again.

ahhh.....same thing here....also 98SE . . .Do you have airbags in your seats??? From what I found out, this was the first year the maximas had seat airbags and there is a problem with the sensor or something like that....I know it costs a lot of cash to fix it and it's not covered under any recall.... I keep resetting it and I noticed that it comes back when I drive the car hard. . . .

Man thats bull...for something like seatbelts/airbags that was a defect from the manufacturer they should fix that problem for free. I would write nissan on that one and see what they say.

How do you reset the light? My Brother has a 1998 GLE and the light came on after he got a jump due to a dead battery. Also does the Bose radio have a code that needs to be put in if the battery dies? I do not recall my brother having to do this but was wondering if I pulled the battery for say 15 minutes if it would reset the computer and ... thus reset the fault in the air bag system.

thanks

Eric

with your drivers side door open, put key in ignition and turn until your diagnostic lights appear on your dashboard. As soon as you see these lights go on push the small button seven times quickly on your drivers side door frame that controls the dome light when the door opens and closes. Then start the car. This should change the beat of the light from rapid to slow. Repeating the process again should clear the blinking light.

I have the same problem.

i disconnected the pass. seat airbag sensor while battery was connectede now i have that blinking light.

the reset bonargar suggested doesn't help (at least not for me) you need to reset the control unit under your center console somehow. does anybody know how to do it?

Thanks worked like a charm... well once I read the thread properly.

At first I read it as "several" times. Then went back after that did not work and DOUGH! It said "seven" times.

Anyway thanks!

Best wishes

Eric
