Intermittent odometer

My 95 Maxima GXE odometer is not working all the time. Sometimes it registers mileage, sometimes it doesn't. The speedometer works fine all the time.

So now I know how fast I go, but NOT how far.

Has anyone experienced this problem? What's the solution? Any quick fix?

Thanks,
Sam

Man, I have the same problem. It would be nice to know if anyone had a quick fix for this. At first I just thought that I was getting horrible gas mileage, but I watched it for a while and realized it wasn't moving for 10 miles.

There must be someone who had this problem fixed before. Would that person help the rest of us, please.

Thanks,
Sam

same thing happened to my 90 240sx. it ended up being the speedo cable. but my speedo was intermittent as well. do you have that problem coupled with the odometer?

This has been discussed before I believe and the answer to the inquiry is to replace the entire gauge cluster. Occassionally the tach will start dancing too which is another fault the 95 Maximas had. Too bad there isn't an easier fix than that.

OK, sounds like I need to replace the whole instrument cluster.

Is there any difference in the clusters for the 95, 96, 97, 98, and 99 model years? Can someone give a link to a write up on removing the instrument cluster?

Thanks guys.
