Rear H&R spring installation

Does anyone that has experience installing H&R's know for sure if the rear springs are suppose to be installed with the the H&R writing facing up or facing upside down? Are the dead coils (the ones the are real close together) suppose to be on the top or the bottom. My rear right illumina shock just broke and I am trying to figure out if they were installed improperly or if the springs were installed wrong.

Are you installing illuminas or H&Rs?

I would check for you, but my max (w/ H&Rs) is in the shop...

I believe that the springs are supposed to be installed with the dead coils( the ones bunched together) facing upward. check out this link, it is instructions and pictures of someone installing H&R's with tokico's. Good luck Bro.

H&R should be towards you , if you put them upside down - the ride will be horrible

I already had H&R and Illumina's installed but the guy on the org and he put the rear springs with the H&R facing upside down so you can't read it. I told him I thought it was wrong, but he said it was right. Then when he finished we took it for a ride and everytime we hit a bump there was a loud *** noise, so he went back and tightened the bolt on the top of the shock underneather dial where you adjust the ride quality, and then it drove fine, however in the manual it said that tightening the bolt that much was improper and the bushing would wear out and break or something like that. Well that was in september and a few days ago I noticed I was hearing the back rear shock making the same loud noise that I heard when he first installed the shocks, and when I checked it, the top of the shock where the threads are broke off and all of the pieces were all over my trunk.

The rear springs have a narrow coil winding on the last coil that sits on the shock perch. They will not fit together if there installed upside down. It's very obvious to the installer as well.

do you know if the H&R writing on the rear springs is suppose to be rightside up or upside down. Also have you ever ran into this problem that I have where when you finished the install with the illuminas and took the car for a ride you heard a noise every time you hit a bump that sounded like the shock was banging against the the car? I wrapped all the springs very well with rubber coils from nissan so I know it was no problem but I am sure that this guy install something wrong or else why would this break.

quick and simple - when you remove your rear wheel this is what you should see on the rear springs " H&R " towards you.

and i suggest you find someone else to install your suspension , obviously this "guy" does not know spring from piston

those springs in rear can only go in one way
if they are put upside down - the coils will not seat properly on the strut perch.
