Tranny is shot, Which clutch to put with new one?
at 50k miles the transmission in my maxima is shot. There is a constant whine in all gears at all speeds, and a metal on metal bearing sound when going into 5th. I took the car in to nissan, they tore it apart, they are deciding if its worth rebuilding it or just putting a new one in. In either case, I would Like a new clutch. I dont know what to go with. The stock one still grabbed pretty hard at 50K, so i dont know if its worth upgrading beyond OEM. Is there any way of using a clutch and or clutch release bearing from another car with a VQ engine ie altima, newer maximas.????

just get a new OEM clutch, will be fine as long as you are not running any type of boost.
Whatever you do DO NOT get the "Key Value" clutch kit, some dealers will try to sell this to you instead of the OEM clutch.

OEM, but since your using a Nissan dealership make sure you get the actual OE one that came in the car. I have heard stories of dealerships who acted like the "key value" was the only one Nissan made.
