smoked or clear lights on blk max?

I need some opinions on which would look better. For the smoked lights I was planning to get black DC clears, do the AE headlight mod, paint the inside of the corner light housing and the Dallas taillight mod with the amber and white lens removed. For the clear lights It would jus be DC clear corners, custommaxima red/clears and the AE headlight mod. Im not sure which to go with, the clear lights would cost me $100 for the tails and the smoked lights will just cost be a few bucks for paint.

Black on black would be the ****. I think it would look really clean.
Especially with black wheels with a silver lip,...sweet!
Basicly, just the revers of my setup

I have the hyperblack bumper lights, AE headlights/corner lenses up front and red/clear tails on the back with a black max. The setup looks absolutely perfect...especially after I lowered it on Sprints. Whenever my car is parked somewhere it gets lots of looks...which really suprises me but it does look clean as hell right now.

Didn't smoke my rear turnsignals/reverse lights tho. I don't think it looks right, either put a thin layer on the whole taillight like FD RX-7s or don't do it at all..

I havent gotten a chance to do this because of some problems I had. Im going to do the DTM, AE headlights and paint the inside of the the DC clear corners and the corner light (next to headlight). Should I paint the entire inside or leave some chrome to reflect. Would it be better to use VHT Nite-Shades so will still reflect?

I think the DTM looks good on black cars. On others, I like the red/clears or just stock if it is 00.

I like the red to still show on the DTM rather than everything black, although Ludacris has the coolest looking ones of the all black. I just personally like the red part to be untouched.

I am going to do the DTM with the red showing and the AE headlights. Im just unsure of what I should do with the clear corners and light next to the headlight. Should I just open them up and paint the entire inside of the housing black?

I don't personally like the clear corners blacked out, even if the tails are. I would leave those be.

However, tinting the corner lights can look good with the AE mod.

Darrik's car looks good in the rear. I like that, if you are going to do the DTM.

ahahahah thats awesome! This thread is so old that I didn't even start blacking my car out yet.

..smoked tails, black badges/keyhole, smoked sidemarkers, ae headlights, black chrome bumper lights up front and graphite wheels now

EDIT: I would leave the chrome in the corner lamp lense next to the headlight and just smoke the housing. I don't think it looks that great when the whole thing is black...but thats just my opinion.

I like the way your car looks, ludacris. I am not usually all for blacking everything out, but dang! that looks good.
I love how you kept the theme for the whole car.
Just don't get a chrome dash kit.

just curious, why not shave the trunk to make it smoother looking?

also, I want to paint over my trunk keyhole as well - any tips? does it stick if you spray over it?

check out my tail lights at www.cardomain.com/id/blackmaxx96... I painted over the amber and clear lense..... On a black car, I think it looks the best out of every other tail light... except of course the red/clears... but I have a 96, so I didnt feel like spending 300 bucks for some tail lights.....

I hate shaved maxs...it's dumb. Why would you want to show off a huge, slab of a trunklid with no features on it at all? It just looks like it's missing something, naked not clean. I like that ppl know I drive a Nissan Maxima anyway.

Tips...mm i honestly just used masking tape and newspaper to mask around the trunk keyhole and just sprayed the paint on. It's held up over the past month or so with no problems.

By the housing do you mean paint some of the chrome around the edges like the AE mod for the headlights? I was thinking about painting all the chrome on the inside with VHT Nite-Shades so its a black chrome...will it still reflect?

Yes...the typical AE mod like this..

I was planning on painting the whole thing black...but after Will did it I wasn't feeling it as much as I thought I would. Using the Nite-Shades inside the lense you won't be able to notice the black chrome effect, but yeah it'll reflect. I think VHT recommends you only use the spray on the outside of the lense btw..

just wondering cuz you sprayed right over the emblems so they're harder to read now.

thanks for the tip, I'll just go ahead and paint right over the keyhole. guess it doesn't stick much.
