I'm about to take my car in to the mechanics to stop an oil leak and they said that it would cost about $350 to get it fixed cos the figured it was leaking from perimeter of the joint between the oil pan and the engine block. They said that it didn't need a gasket and all they were going to do was loosen everything, clean it up and apply a silicone seal and replace it. Is the work involved in doing up to $350 and is it true that u don't' need a gasket?
