Fuse Question

I am in the middle of changing my fuel filter and when disconnecting the fuse to the fuel pump it was a 7.5A instead of a 15A fuse that was labeled on the panel.

Can someone check out the fuse panel on thier (98?) max and verify what amp fuse should be in the fuel pump slot?

What are the effects of having not enough or to much amps?

Thanks!

Are you sure you pulled the right fuse? There is a 7.5A fuse below the fuel pump fuse, maybe you mis-counted and got the wrong one?

The fuse won't convert a higher current down to 7.5A, it'll simply blow.

It was a 7.5A in the fuel pump fuse because when I took it out and tried to start my car it would start and then die soon as I touched the gas.

Additional fuses

Also, there are fuses in all of the slots ... there are no empty slots
like the panel shows. Would they be just spares put in by the
previous owner? Since there are no aftermarkter alterations that
would require the use of extra fuses.

I guess I can just pull them out one at a time and find out if they
are needed by trial and error. Would the result be immediately
noticable?

Or would anyone know why my fuse box would be wired different
than the fuse panel shows??
