Armrest Cover Replacement?

Has anyone purchased the armrest cover from redlinegoods.com? Just wondering how well it fits for a slip on. Are there any other places to get one that's not a slip on?

armrest cover here

Thanks.

I've purchased one, but I have not installed it yet. I first bought the shift and e-brake boots and was very satisfied with the quality, so I went back and got the armrest cover too. It's a pretty good fit, although the term "slip on" is a little misleading....

To install you have to remove the armrest and the plastic piece on the inside of it. You then put the new cover on, over the old cover, and tuck the edges underneath. Finally put the plasic piece back on.

I just got mine today, I didn't realize you leave the old one on...

The quality is excelent! I got black with red stiching and it looks so much better then the stock, and alot softer.

Very good product

Hey,

I just got mine in the mail last week. I'm glad I only spent $35 on the thing.

Problem #1: I ordered tan, to match my tan interior. The cover I was sent would be more accurately described as orange. Or even tangerine.

Problem #2: The stitching was not straight. That just plain sucks, since there were only two seams

Problem #3: It didn't fit over the armrest that well. And the leather was too thick to properly tuck under the corners, so it bulges.

Problem #4: Rather than a nice new armrest, I've got an uncovered black plastic tray because the "new" armrest is in the trash.

I wonder if the poor fitment is due them making only one type of armest cover (for 95-96 cars) but through their carelessness or lack of research they list it as applicable for all 95-99 model years?

You should contact them to find out if they make two types. If they don't know wtf you're talking about then inform them and get your money back.

if you were looking for a stock replacement, you might could just replace the console box lid.
You might could get a super deal at a junkyard or something... call them up and tell them you're looking for a console lid, if they don't have a Maxima that is in good condition on the inside, ask then to call you when a Maxima comes in, or just keep calling and asking.

Another place you could try is ebay..... max4speed had a whole console, with the shifter boot and little tray thing on ebay once. he might could hook you up and his prices are very very reasonable.

We replaced the whole console, lid and shifter boot with new OEM parts from courtesy nissan last year.... wayyy to expensive to go that route, wish I knew then what i know now! ha :-)

Having done auto upholstery, your best friend is the hair dryer (or a an electric tea kettle) and a can of spray adhesive. You can heat up most materials and pull it in to position. Slowly and gentely. This can save imperfect stitching. Use small sprays of adhesive to hold patches down while adjusting. After the stitching looks pleasing, fold the material over the edge and use the adhesive to hold until the remaining pieces are reattached. I never saw a pre-made piece that could not be improved on.

Man that guys color chart is a POS. I ordered a tan e-brake boot, and just like you it was horrible. It doesn't even match his own color chart!

Brown is also the wrong color!

Anyways, I bought the armrest cover for my dad's 97 max and just got it. Hopefully it will fit properly. I'll let you know if the thread is still alive. =)
