Homelink in 97 doesnt work right

Hey guys...i have new garage doors with that rolling code crap thing. I tried following the directions exactly how to program my homelink but for some reason the one in my 97 doesnt take rolling codes. Is there a way to fix this?

I'm just wondering though if you have a 98 if they changed something around? Mine does not do that "blink thing" like it says it should do for a rolling code.

make sure that once you program the homelink to your transmiter ......that you put your garage door opener into learning mode so it will accept the new remote.....check the door openers instructions

Yah i did that. Homelink says that after you program the remote, it will show that it picked up a "rolling code" if the light blinks twice. My light does not blink twice its just steady, I know i do have a learning button and used it.

ok heres what works the best for me....park in the garage....hold the 1 and 3 buttons on the homelink until the light flashes....push the button on your remote and the selected button on the homelink ...blinking light should change (sometimes you have to push the buttons more than once)... then push the learning button on the door opener.. light comes on....now push the selected button on the homelink 3 times....door should open or shut..

note.... if the light does not flash when you push the homelink and the remote it did not recive the remote signal....try again...you normally have a few seconds to program try to program the other buttons at the same time

If you have an early 97 it won't work. The early Homelink units couldn't handle rolling codes. My 97 had a production date of 11/96 and the Homelink unit wasn't upgraded at that time. I verified it by calling Homelink directly.

crap. I wonder if you can upgrade it or something? Will a visor from a 98 fit the 97?
