For the past few months my hood has been unable to stay open on its own due to the hydrolics going bad. What ones should i get for my hood, how much are they, and where can i get them.
Thanks!

Get strongarms from carquest or pepboy etc. for like $40-$50 bucks.
Don't buy them from the dealer.

I'm in the same boat as you. Which ones are the oens where they replace for free whenever they go bad again? And how hard are they to install?

i got the mighty max hood struts from autozone. About $30 total with tax, and they work great even in the really cold weather.

How long until they'll go out, do you think?

Post #13 http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=276032 Get Strong Arms since they have lifetime warranty. When they go bad after 2-3 years, you can get free replacements. Got mine for ~$20 each.

do the old hood struts just pop out of the socket? And then just pop the new ones right in? Basically plug and play nothing else to do? Thanks.

The StrongArms come with new "bolts" so you unscrew the old "bolts" (I think they're 12mm). Then you screw in the new bolts (the new ones are either 10mm or 11mm) and pop in the new hood lifts. Took me like 5 minutes to do both of them.

The Might Max from autozone suck from my personal experience. Mine would intermittently support the hood after only 7 months. They only have like 3 month warranties now too. I got mine replaced after talking with the manager, but I'd rather have a LLT warranty.

Just picked up mine today...35 bucks for 2 at advanced auto parts....seemed kind of expensive, but I didn't want to waste anymore gas looking around.
