Hi
I am about to get new brakes for my 1996 maxima. Does it really matter what kind i get? I dont do any racing, or anything like that...should i just go to autozone and get any kind of pads, or should i get nissan ones, which are more expensive. any help would be apreciated.

Get ceramics. Everything else fades too easy!!! I put metalic (my stupidity) and now I'm ****ed because I will end up replacing them in couple of month, two hard steps on the brakes on the highway and they went toast!!!

BTW check your rotors for warps and make sure you grease up the bolts on the calipers and put some antisqeel between the brake pad and the metal plate

Go with Hawk HPS brake pads. Cost about $57 dollars + shipping from www.shox.com . Dust more than OEM but stop better and are more resistant to brake fade.

 

Save your dough and get the autozone ceramic, as stated above, pads. I got'em they perform well and brake dust is moderate. Meaning if I skip washing my car I don't look like I have gun metal rims.
