Hi guys,
I've decided to do my own oil change tomorrow, and I need to know how much oil you guys put in your VQ's w/ new filter???
Also while at Autozone, I picked up a cone air filter for $20! That's right... 20 BUCKS!! I already have a JWT Popcharger on my '99, but my nephew has a '92, so I thought I'd do him a favor. The intake is physically a little smaller than my popcharger, but has the same mesh construction with a foam filter element inside, and it's kinda inverted on the end with extra intake surface area rather than the flat chrome end like mine. The only question is... this intake has sort of a hose-type connection with a metal ring clamp tie-down thing to attach it. The package says it fits any 3" intake pipe. I remember my JWT had a 4-bolt aluminum part to attach it to the intake piping... has anyone installed or seen how a cone goes on a VG? Or maybe how big the intake pipe is?

No. My own Maxima is "bone stock" and I have scant knowledge of modifications. Too many engine problems cited on this forum have their origin in a modification. Sometimes the mod is badly designed or made. Sometimes the installation was botched.

 

I have a 95 Max 5 speed and my manual indicates oil refill capacity at 4 5/8 quarts (with oil filter). My 99 Max 5 speed required a slightly smaller amount of oil (i don't recall how much but it was around 4 1/4 to 4 1/2). You may want to check on the year of the vehicle for oil capacity...
