Reat anti sway bar worh it?
Im contemplating on getting this in conjunction with my fsb. Is it worth it to get a rear one? I dont know why all fo them cost about 100-150... It looks like a track pole, that you jump over...

Wait.. Are you talking about a rear SWAY bar? or a rear STRUT bar? The rear strut bar (looks and functions much the same way as the front strut bar) is basically useless. A rear SWAY bar (goes under the car, attaches to rear axle) is hands down the best suspension mod for the money.

I had the same question wether to buy or not. I ask Jeff at MaxmumTuning if I should and he stated that they were not true sway bars but braces, and that they would not do a big improvement in handling. I didn't get one and with the new eibachs and kybs I have, I don't feel I'm missing out.

Although I don't have one on my car, I hear mosty good things about them. The only negative aspect of them is that you don't actually feel the car as well which may fishtailing if turns are taken at high speeds.
Overall: well worth the ~$130

It's well worth the money IMO. BUT, if you think you know how your car handles now, you won't when you put one on. One word. Oversteer. So watch out on those really hard (and fast) corners!

I ditched my sway bar a couple of years after having lowering springs. It turns out that the sway bar does very little once you're lowered except bind the suspension in tight turns which causes oversteer problems. If you plan on staying on the stock springs, then get the bar, otherwise just get some quality springs (H&R, Eibach).

The Maxima rear sway bar is not a true rear sway bar (as I understand them) as it only bolts to the moving suspension. The 2 other sway bars I have installed on other cars both attached to the body of the car which was very effective in reducing body roll.
After my previous sway bars I was surprised by how how little (relative to my previous experiences) the Maxima (4th gen) rear sway bars affected body roll. But it did help a fair amount. Note that I am still on the weinie 205/65/15 tires which I'm sure doesn't let me feel the full potential of the rear sway bar.
I still think the bar is worth it.

I wonder if the benefit of a rear sway bar varies by spring stiffness and engineering.

if you don't plan on lowering anytime soon, get it ASAP!.. if you're planning on lowering this spring or summer, save your money and get your springs and shocks first. then consider the rsb.
i'm not lowered and i swear by my rsb.

I just installed my RSB this week, and I LOVE it. I already had the FSTB, and this makes an even bigger difference. It feels like the car is made much better, and planted much better too. I'm not planning on upgrading my shocks anytime soon. I just got the Cattman for $105 shipped in that group deal, but I'm not sure that price comes around too often. Anyway, I don't know what to say if you upgrade your shocks, but I definitely recommend it with the stock suspenstion.

Rsb does not help as much as one would like you to think. I also think it's hilarious how you all talk about the oversteer with the rsb, I don't feel ANY oversteer. Probably because my 240sx had alot more oversteer than the max. My max on h&r's and tok blues with fstb and rsb still understeers alot more than the 240 did. I've never had a problem with fishtailing in the max either. IMHO the RSB is not worth the $130 unless you have nothing else left to mod, and you have $130 to blow on something. The rear suspension is a beam suspension, and that beam acts as a sort of sway bar itself, if we had independant rear suspension this would be a totally different arguement, but sadly we're not blessed with an independant rear suspension like the 3rd gen fellas and I think the 5th n 6th gen guys as well. Tthere is not much flex in the car as one would think (in the rear at least) if I was you I'd consider getting the sfc's if I had the money thats the mod I would do.

bet the new tires made more of a difference as well as the fstb than the rsb did . btw that piece of information does make a difference in your feedback of how you thought the rsb either helped or hurt the car's performance. don't get me wrong tho if you did feel like it helped thats great! i dont disagree
