Heated seats stop working sometimes....
I drove to Philly from jersey yesterday and it's pretty cold out there so I pretty much drive with the heat on in the seats...When we were driving, my fiance told me that her seat is not as warm anymore....Once she said that, I noticed that mine stopped heating too....
Now, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.... What could be causing this??? Is it the switches??? They do light up when I turn them on/off..... Where can I start to diagnose the problem???
Thanks in advance,
Sam

check the wires to see if anything is loose or melted i doubt they would be melted but there could be a loose connection. the switches would light regardless in the on position because they get grounded when u turn then in either position.

Wish I had an answer. Are you sure you guys didn't just get used to the heat after awhile and it really WAS working? I know on my Bravada the seats really get HOT, can almost burn your ***. In my max the heat is warm but I would not say really ***-burning hot.
If it is going off on both seats its probably something central, like a ground near the switches. No thermostats are involved. Not sure if the switches can be popped up from the console for testing or not (without actually lifting the center console). Anyone know?

I have your answer. When the heated seats are in the Hi position, the thermostat works differently than when it is in the low position. When it is in high (the thicker line setting) It gets really warm, and when it gets to that certaint temp, it shuts off. When the temp falls back to whatever starting point the thermastat feels is cool enough, it goes through its cycle of getting hot again. It continues this over oand over again. Thats why you feel that it is intermitantly broken, it is just the thermastat cycling. In the low postition, it keeps a steady temp albiet a lower one. Hope this helps. I used to have the same concern as you.
