AE Headlights Just Finished!!!!

WOO HOO!! I just finished painting my headlights...ALOT easier than I had thought it would be..EVERYONE needs to do this mod, it turned out great...I had originally posted a WTB ad in the classified section for some but I was afriad I would f up on something but I grew ***** and did it. It took a total of about 4 hours but worth it, most of the time was letting the paint dry. I will post pics as soon as I take some! BTW, i did my parking lights too.

Edit: PICS

i did it on my 96 max and came out great. you can't see it as good as a 97-99 headlights cause these glass lights are not as clear as the plastic ones.

So how does it look on the red color? I was thinking about doing mine, but wondered if it would match the red exterior color as good... Maybe I shall do this.

they are just headlights, all you do is spray parts of reflector with black paint. It looks pretty nice.

Yes I would def. do it. It looks GREAT on a red car..I did the parking lights too so they all match. I will see if I can do the clear corners as well.

Look really nice on a red car! But then again, that color red would make anything you do look damn sexy.

I did this to my stock head lights and hated it, took them out within a week. Here is a pic for those who wonder what it looks like on a 95-96.

O and it is visible.

I wish my 3rd gen had lights like those! I'd pant it right away. But I'm not touching my 2k3 lights. Theyre just beautiful the way they are.

BTW it's time to change your sig!!!

Hey guys. I was just wondering. How was the write up? I wrote it about 6 months ago I guess. Is there anything that I need to modify to make it any easier. I know that someone had mentioned a how-to on how to get the headlights off the car, but I just don't know. Lemme know what you guys think.

OHHH shiit...you didn't just type that. The Spurs are the champs man. They are just in a little slump. It's not the journey that matters it's how you finish. It's cool the spurs will be playing still in july.

Guys with 95-96s, how easy is it to remove the metal clips that connect the glass to the black plastic housing? How do you recommend to remove them?

Flat head screw driver. Insert and twist. They'll pop right off. Watch your eyes. Sometimes they take off flying.

I did my 95's and they IMO look great. I think they look good only on dark and red Maximas. I will take some pics to post, because my max is dark green. The headlights are real easy to take apart, just make sure the glue is heated up to make for easy opening of the lens. The clips, just use a flat head screwdriver and they will pop off easily. I did the AE mod to my corner lights also and it made them look much better.

I wanted to do this soon, how did you take the lens off the housing? Which would be easier, putting it in the oven or using a hairdryer?

1995 Maxima AE Headlights/Cornerlights:

The black is not nearly as black as it appears in the pics. I took this in my Garage because my car is now stored and wont be outside for another couple months.

Definantly stick it in the oven, at first I thought the oven idea were gonna melt the headlights but I tried it and it works great, just pull them out of the oven and stick in a screwdriver and twist, it comes right off.

just pop it in the oven and fire it up. or do a preheat. i found that way easier. put it on a tray or something. and if its not easy to pop off, throw it back in and heat it up for a couple minutes more. youre gonna chip some glass off but dont rush it or else youll end up having to buy a new headlight.
