Car photos in highschool, what was yours?
Great moment today, I was walking out of the school building and noticed Senior Car photos. And there I was with maxi!! Under the photo it said "Gus Petrou Standing Proud next to his nissan maxima" Just put a big smile on my face and was really happy that they put me in the car section (even though maxi is the best car in my senior class). Well my friend with his honda accord didnt get in the pic ::wonder why:: or maybe they dont want to put rice in the yearbook lol j/k. But If you did have a senior car photo back in your highschool year what car did you have? or what did you want to have as a Senior?

Man, I wish I would have had that nice of a car my senior year. I did have a Max, however. It was a 1988 GXE and it was light blue.
That was a huge step up from the car I drove for a while before that though. It was a Doo-doo brown 1983 Chevy Caprice Classic Station Wagon with a 305 in it. Now that thing was hidious!!!
Ahhh, what good times.
when I was a Senior, I wished that I had a newer generation Maxima though. I wanted a 1993 SE. Never got it though.
Graduated in 1998

I had a 1985 Pontiac Bonneville with a Chevy 305 I rebuilt the heads on and a hollowed out exhaust system that was stock except for the missing cat innards and the glasspack muffler.
I had a 360 degree chrome open element air filter on top of the stock 4-bbl carbs with vacuum secondaries.
The thing was a beast. Loud from the intake and exhaust, but not so loud it was really annoying. I also had it painted royal blue, a big change from the stock two-tone puke green color. Also tinted the windows and installed a decent sound system.
I graduated in 98 as well.

I too had a 3rd gen, SE, only mine had a moderate amount of rice added to it. Graduated in 00', named the car "Wounded Dragon", after all the accidents and mileage put on it (250k miles, 4 accidents). She only showed some minor fender damage for all the crap she took. Still sits in the parents' driveway today, still runs great .. *sob*

Well my old man didn't believe in giving kids anything, he believes (as do I now) that you should earn everything. So I was the sob story, come to think about it the only one of our "crew" that had a car was my homie and we called his lil' honda hatchback the honda ho because the "nda" fell off. Those were the days back in 90-91!

Yeah, it was badass on a budget. That was originally my grandma's car and I turned it into a teen cruiser. It had plenty of get-up and go, but it also got 25mpg on the highway.

i had a '95 maxi when i graduated last year... unlike with some of you it was one of the more ghetto cars at my school... a bunch of people had bimmers, mersedes, 3 hummers, G35 coupe... i hate rich snobs

The first part of the year, i was piecing my 73 chevy truck that my dad and i put back together. 3/4 stepside, with a very very mild 350, with properly working quadrajets (thank god) and plenty of rust if you looked for it, not to mention the 33x12 tires on 16.5in fluted aluminum wheels. It had a red and white interiour, with hardwood accents. loved that old truck, but couldn't take the mileage. I bought a 94 accord in march of my senior year-my first imported car. haven't looked back since. i had a fairly nice car for my class, but there were farm family kids driving 40K trucks and suvs, so i couldn't really compete.

Those are totally awesome American Muscle cars!
How did you come across such great cars while in high school?
Props.

I had a bus...it took me back and forth to school...It was a public bus, and I had to pay for the ticket...and most of the times I had to run to catch it (that was my daily workout). That is when my home country was in the eastern part of Europe, where the kids have no car...

my maxima was one of the nicer cars in my school. I got complimetns on it daily. ofcourse we have people at my school with M3's and turbo tegs, and ws-6's. but their parents all bought them their cars. i think my car was probably one of the niciest at my school, where the kid actually paid for it himself. now i have an integra gsr which doesnt look nearly as nice as my max, but its faster and sportier.
right after i sold my maxima a friend of mine bought an 01 firehawk trans am. he paid for it himself, so he stole my spot anyways

I had a 91 SE-L, pearl beige (i guess that the color do describe it) for the end of my junior year and the begginging of my senior year. Every one gave me probs on that car. It had some wicked as 17's and a sweet system. Only bad thing was, its was leather, no a/c, and no tint, I live in deep south texas, its always hot., and also it had around 193,000miles on it. Its retired now (cracked headers, something happened to the manifold) I spend more money fixing it, than it cost to buy it. I want to post the pics of my car, but my cardomainpage wont take it.

Its not too hard man. Experience is the best teacher, so pick yourself up an early 80's Bonneville, Grand Prix, Grand Am, Cutlass Supreme, Buick Regal, Caprice, Impala, Monte Carlo, or anything with a large RWD body style and a Chevy V-8 engine, do a rebuild of the heads, and even the low end if it needs it. You could go Ford too, but I find there are a lot more people who know everything about Chevy engines than Ford engines that can help you out if you have questions (not meant to start any kind of Ford/Chevy debate, honestly).
This will be probably the fastest way to get the best understanding of cars and their systems. I've worked on just about everything on that Bonneville, Power Steering, A/C, Sound system, water pump, ignition, radiator + hoses, exhaust, brakes, wheel bearings, suspension, whatever. And its all because my parents gave me that car with the line "if you can make it run, you can have it". Once thought to be a cruel joke on my by my parents turned out to be a valuable learning experience.
