get some header/exhaust wrap off ebay. I bough a 50' roll and double wrapped 2 cars with it. 2 layers for each car. It's been a month almost and the top layer hasn't even burnt off the smell.

I wrapped my y-pipe from just below the two front O2 sensors all the way back to the cat. Did not wrap the cat, just up to it. I tried just wrapping the flex section, but was not totally happy. Once I wrapped from the sensors back I was happy with the reduction in noise .

the wrapping really does make a difference in noise? is it the volume of the noise that goes down or the tone??

What does this do, make it quiet, help something not break.... I never understood it.

because if your flex section is leaking then wrapping it will quiet the hissing noise from the leak.

Supposed to be used on steel tubular headers and exhaust piping because it helps keep exhaust gasses hot since hotter gasses are lighter and helps with exhaust velocity and scavenging and all that good stuff

Its supposed to help quiet down the 'hissing' that some y-pipe owners complain about but I never had a problem with my warpspeed. In theory it should help the exhaust from cooling down so it can escape faster but i doubt it would matter.

I think the wrap would just trap unwanted water and cause premature rusting but thats up here in chicago with the crazy salt.

:edit: Damn beat me to it nismo

wrapping before the install will be a lot easier cuz you'll have more room. but wrapping after install is not too bad either, it's doable.

http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/520

according to mr. mortorvate's analysis, there's a small gain of 2-3HP after the wrap, also quiet down the noises. i say go for it.

personally i only wrapped the flex section cuz it's leaky. i will wrap the entire y-pipe possibly before the norcal dyno meet if i don't get lazy to get under the hood...
