95 JWT ECU in 97 Max - what codes to expect?
Originally posted this in the Force induction Forum, but decided it would wortk here too:
What the title says.....
Installed 1995 ECU in my 1997 Max and I only get one code - 1005 - EGRC Solenoid valve.
According to the 4th Gen FAQ's, that code would show up on a 99 because 99's have a different type of EGR System. But it doesn't mention any EGR differences between 1995 and 1997.
Basically, I had expected a rear O2 code.
Anyone else put a 95 ECU in a 97 Max? What codes, if any, did you get?

Not sure but why would it show a rear O2 code? Only difference is that it's a few inches further down the exhaust. Or would it be cause it has lesser emissions standards than the later years?

I was reading that the 97-99s have a three wire rear o2 sensor while the 95-96s have only a 2 wire 02 sensor. This is why the 95-96 ECUs throw codes in 97-99 models. It's that simple. Just one wire can throw a big code.
