I always hear a whinin while I'm turning on the car. In October, I had Jeff at max tuning change two of my belts adn it went away for a while. For the past few months tho, it has been doing it except for when it's really cold, it's not as bad. But today I backing into a parking space and I heard it. After parked, I was sitting with the car running and my lights and clock/climate control started flickering. Do I need a new alternator?

 

yes and u can get it for free at the dealer there is a recall on 97 and 98's check with the dealer got mine fixed

 

They won't charge me a dime? I didn't buy it frmo a dealer, i bought it from a private owner.

ok. I guess when I have time I will just bring it in and ask if it needs to be replaced.

 

If you have a silver sticker on your alternator(i think) you will have to get that one changed. If it's any other sticker you might have to pay.

Just go in and see what they say.
