i dont think its ricey. Painting over the key hole is also an option, just making it car color. looks good especially on black cars.

i think it looks good but it would suck if your battery died and you need in the trunk

I personally think it looks better since they keyhole is offset and there's no symmetry with it there.

SXN, Isn't the inside trunk button with a wire not cable? That would mean the actuator to open it with the button would need power. Although your battery is rarely that dead.

Yes the door trunk pop is electric, but you can open the trunk with a stick from the inside backseat.

I want to get mine shaved but I was told its more than $100 for sure.
For me thats too expensive.

I'm curious. Is it possible to shave a trunk keyhole and keep the lettering? I think I'd like that look better.

did i say to use that switch?

also, if your car battery is dead (hence the trunk switch wont work) then the trunk opening automatically is the least of your problems. think...

Well you could always do what I did. Wait till some ***** faced a$$ holes break into your car and rip a huge hole in your trunk to get in to it to steal your system. I decided it would be cheaper to just seal the hole then to fix the keyhole and the hardware and put it all back on. I say 86 the keyhole. It looks a lottttt cleaner and gives the dirty pr!cks out there 1 less way of gettin in to your trunk. You can shave the key hole and still keep the lettering. I think it looks better, more semetric. What color is your car

well if you didnt want to go bondo you can go the metal work route. although that can be expensive, and finding places that will do it can be a pain. but it comes out a lot nicer and you wont have to worry about the typical bondo crap

yeah, he reason i was asking this was cause i deecided to do it but my bro thinks it is a dumb idea. i think it looks better though. Oh, and shadow, why is your trunk cricked on the right side? it looks like the trunk light does not line up with the quarter light but nice car man.

i am glad i shaved it off.

It would look stupid to shave the trunk key hole and stop there. You'd want to shave the key holes in the front doors too for continuity. But it won't stop there, because it would look stupid to have door handles w/o keyholes so you end up shaving the door handles...all four of them. That's when it gets really expensive, all because you want to shave the trunk key hole.

That's why everyone has what's called an "opinion." No need to knock it. The same thing happens when people get the idea to put altezzas on their cars. I for one HATE altezzas on ANY car. Especially maximas. I think they completely take away from the original beauty of the car. But I save my comments because I know what I say won't affect anyone else's decisions. So keep your comments to yourself please.

come on, shaved door handles is just stupid. a shaved trunk key hole for me does not seem that stupid cause i rarely open my trunk to put stuff in there. so that is why i shaved it and plus since my letters are gone, i wouldn't like the small key hole on the side(ruins the shaved trunk theme)

I'm not trying to knock it, by any means, I'm just saying that since opinion differ from person to person, changing one thing can start a series of other mods which adds up to something considerably pricey in the long run. That's really the point I'm getting to. You are right its a matter of personal preference but of course, why does everyone take pics of their mods and post them here? Isn't it to get approval from people, with the eye for style, that their mod is cool? It's the same result you get when showing them off, of course not everyone approves certain style changes such as the altezza tails. Anyhow, it's just an opinion, no pun intended, at all. Sorry if it came across that way though.

Typically, when shaving all door handles, one must install an emergency hidden door release lever somewhere outside the vehicle just in case unexpected battery discharge happens. This was popular among mini-trucks in the mid-80s. So not doing so with the Maxima would mean that "you are screwed".

its just a mechanical switch that goes to the drivers door. only problem is then there is a possibility people could indeed find it

I'd put that mechanical switch behind the rear bumper. So all you gotta do is reach below it then behind the bumper and hit the switch....OPEN SESAME! That should be pretty inconspicuous.

still, if a car has no handles, people know there is a switch somewhere (or the owner is a fool)

Most people keep their jumper cables in the trunk, so I think getting the trunk open would be a concern.

well, the cheap way to do it is just put body color paint over it, thats a couple bucks. shaving it means you remove it to look like it was never there, a very clean look.

odds of someone else having jumper cables are not always high and who wants to wait 30-45 minutes for AAA just for a dead car battery?

speaking on behalf of everyone here, please both of you just shut up. By the way I just got mine shaved. It didn't cost me a dime. But of course that is because the guy that did it for free also just painted my car at the same time he did it. Kind of what you could call a bonus I guess. He also shave my anntenae off as well. I think it looks great.
