i notice lately when it's cold out and when i tried to start the car...it'll crank and start up then it'll idle low and stall out...i have to start again and revv the engine a little to keep rpm up, after that it's ok.....any idea what this could be caused by? i will be looking to clean my TB soon to see if that help out..

check your coolant temperature sensor its one of the main cause affecting our maximas it like 25 to 30 dollars at the dealer yours might be corroded so it will send ecu the wrong signal that to send more gas and thats where it dosent start too much gas

If that sensor is bad, it will trip the CEL. My mother's '95 has this hard starting problem and the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor was changed less than a year ago and there arent any stored codes. What else could it be??

EDIT: The throttle body was cleaned also

hey guys. i had this same problem a few weeks back. erveyone told me to clean the TB and i didnt think that would help. but i cleaned it anyway, and since then, I havent had the problem. this seems to be a very common problem with are maxes. just clean the TB and im sure you will be happy.

make sure you really clean everything out of the TB tho. sometimes its hard to see all the dirt around the butterfly and make sure you open up the throttle and clean really good.

good luck
