Sensor screwed into airbox?

I am installing my CAI and there is a sensor of some sort screwed into the stock air box on the right hand side of it. (Looking at air box from driver side.) What is it and what do I do with it?

yeah the AIT sensor. Just make sure it's somewhere near the intake so that it senses cooler air.

I modified my CAI to take it. But I know some guys just let it sit out in the open.

It doesn't seem to do ANYTHING anyway. I had it disconnected, by the intake, right behind the grill and it was always the same results.

Well, I stashed it right next to the filter. (extended the cable a bit.) BTW, I actually got a REAL K&N filter. Not the one that comes with a budget CAI. Hopw it's worth it.

I stuck the air temp sensor on mine inside the cone filter. It's simple, just stick it in the filter's outlet end, then slip the fiilter onto the MAF adapter. The wires shouldn't get pinched as long as you don't over-tighten the clamp that secures the filter to the MAF adapter. Voila!!!...nothing hanging out.
