95-96' Rear Clear Tail Lights.....

I just got off the phone with a guy who owns a custom auto body shop in Chattanooga,TN. I stoped by his place today to see if he could do anything with my tail lights. Most of the work he does is with Nissans and Hondas. I asked him if it was possible if he can get clear tail lights and paint them. He returned my phone call a few minutes ago saying that a custom import body shop in Oregon can make a set for who ever wants a pair. I'm going to find out tomorrow what the pricing will be on a set. I hope its reasonable price. IF anyone is interested plz post on here. If I get a good amount of people we can probably do a group deal.

Thanks

- Ray

Yea, Im in for a pair but I doubt this will go through....there have been PLENTY of other posts "I know a guy that might do this, or can do that...but i need people"

I don't mean to offend you, or this guy but the possibility of this going through is like all the others...not going to happen.

Why all clear?

If they can do that, they should just go ahead and do red/clear like everyone wants.

Why is it so hard to find a manufacturer that can produce all clears?

Because all clear tail light lenses are NOT street legal and will not be approved for highway use if sold as is. Taillights are required to have amber or red colored lenses, white for reverse. Manufacturers won't risk it by mass producing them and then end up not selling much or if any at all. It's too costly to make the molds alone if sales are uncertain because of the illegality of its use.

Im interested in them too, most likely red clears would be the way to go from the get go.

Besides as far as all-clears go there was a recall on them a while back because they wernt 'dot approved' ie.. illegal.

i read all the post...and all of you that dont care thats fine. Anyways its gonna cost $375 for a set. these will not be painted. So if anyone is wants a pair email me @ rukarims@comcast.net. And no I'm not making any profit off of these. They will be shipped straight from the retailer in Oregon to your address. PS I cant afford these, so for right now im not going to get a set.

Thanks - Ray

Send me $150 and I'll locate some for your guys.

It might take a while though, so don't worry if you don't hear from me for a long time.

But I'll need at least 30 orders cash up front in order to start looking.

I think there will never be a right price for these ($250 or under) because they are almost impossible to get from anyone that used to manufacture them since they are discontinued a while back and most likely would have to be remanufactured from scratch....that's why it costs so much from the get go.

see the problem with this guy in Oregon is that he has the plastic mold to make copies of the tails. But his @ss is trying to rip me off. If I can get my hands on the mold for the tails then we can get things started.i dunno im just confused...

So, if All-Clears are illegal in the US, then how does the Lexus RX330 have them as stock? My parents just got one, and the first thing I noticed was the all-clears........anyone?

they have big red reflectors on the bumpers. i believe that is what keeps them legal. so, i wonder if a maxima had all clears, but put red reflective tape around the license plate or somewhere, if that would make it legal.

In my previous post, I meant why is it so hard for a manufacturer to produce the red/clear tailights, not the all clear tails. It would make things a lot easier for everybody

Believe it or not, I think the Maxima enthusiast community, in the org, probably doesn't make up a big enough number to justify demands for a certain manufacturer(s) to start making the red/clear tails and sell them for a reasonable price. Simply put, the demands are still not big enough. Also a stock-styled tail lens probably won't sell as much because its very similar to the stock lenses, the only difference is the amber part. Now, perhaps a totally restyled tail design has a better chance of selling because most enthusiasts like dramatic changes in a car's appearance thus it'll sell more than the stock-styled ones. Also, think about this....how many members does this org have? Now, compare the number of people in here, who are really into modding/restyling, to those who are not. Then take the difference and compare that to the rest of the population who own Maximas (outside the org). Not everyone are true Maxima enthusiasts because its a family sedan and a lot of people, probably the greater number of people, who own one still treat it as a family sedan and don't mod and restyle it and take it to the drag strip.

I know.....sounds unfair! That's how marketing works its all numbers. I bet if everyone in the U.S.,who owns a Maxima, swears to get the red/clear stock-styled tail lenses then every manufacturer out there would jump on the opportunity and probably try to compete with each other for lower retail prices. But that's not how things work in real life.

so this is how we do get red/clears back in production: everyone go grab a baseball bat, and every time you see another maxima, go and smash their tailights. that is sure to increase demand enough for the manufacturers to find production profitable...

just joking people!

those altezza's are selling like crazy. the manufacturer that makes those could make all clears or red clears easy. how many altezza go unsol off ebay..?? its gotta cost more to make an altezza than an all clear. only 1 type of material. no red circles to produce.

You can pickup a set of APC allclears for 201 bucks online. Thing is then u need to paint em, did david L just use the testors candy apple trans. paint or what? Does anyone know?

Id rather pay 201 bucks than 375. Esp. for something thats not even painted already.

If you research hard enough you can find them. it took me a couple days to find an online store that sells them, you have to reference the APC model # for the all clears which is 40.4074.TL

The last store i found sells them for 201... a few months ago i found a store selling them for 90 bucks... but didnt get to bookmark it before my computer locked up.

I found this APC 95-97 Nissan Maxima Clear Tail Lens. Doesn't look like they are aware that 97 Maxima tails are different from 95-96 tails. Plus the picture of the tail lense are off of a pickup truck, not a Maxima. I'm not sure if this is legitimate. But the price is $201.56 and it's on sale even.
