sell my 95 maxima for a 98 maxima 5 speed?
I found an ad for a 98 maxima 5 speed asking 6k w/86k miles and thinking about buying it...a fair deal since I mainly want it because it's manual...but I'm wondering if this may be a lame *** move since I'm buying the same exact car except a different year and transmission. Btw since my car is getting really ****ty gas mileage (11-12 mpg) would the 5speed be a significant difference?

suprisingly, automatic maximas were rated at better mileage than the manuals. if you're in the city and drive hard, your mileage will be poor. you probably need to do a tune up and perhaps change your knock sensor. check your car for codes and change out the air filter, fuel filter, and all that other good stuff if you haven't.
if i could afford going to a 5 spd, i'd do it in a heart beat if it was in good condition. just make sure you get it checked out buy a trusted mechanic because you don't want to buy someone elses beater that'll only give you problems. goodluck deciding...

What is your mileage on your car?
How good of condition is your car and how much do you owe on it? How much can you sell yours for?
Has your car been babied or have you invested money in expensive repairs to it? Will you be satisfied driving the new max for several years? Can you afford a clutch or tranny repair for the new car?
Basically 6 grand for a 98 seems good, if the car is in good condition. The miles on the car are good. Make sure a mechanic looks at it, and that it wasn't wrecked. You could always dump it for 4 grand easily if it turns out to be a lemon, so you don't have alot to loose? Are you GLE now? What options does the new Max have?

ok for city driving i was wrong, but either way, they're close enough anyways. it's all on the condition of the car and how you drive.
