Starter problems ???
Starter problems ???
Hi Everybody,
I am in need of your expert advice once again. I have a 1995 Maxima. Lately I noticed a vierd sound coming form the starter right after I coldstart the car. The engine starts up fine, but there is a winding noise coming from the starter area, kind of like the starter does not want to disengage for a few seconds even after the engine is running. (The noise is like when you try to operate the starter while the engine is running) As you can imagine the noise occurs more frequently and it is getting worse. Nowdays it even takes a bit longer until the engine cranks up.
Is my starter dying? Or is it just the solenoid? How can I make sure? Is it possible to change the starter at home? (I am not afraid of working on a car, I have some experience and a lot of tools.) Where should I get the part? Does anyone know how much the dealer charges?
Thanks,
Bazsu
