My car would feel like stalling in the cold unless I pressed on the gas pedal to keep it live for a few seconds. After I cleaned the TB, the engine cranks like a brand new engine. Once the car is at normal temperature, the engine is at 650 rpm. I have a 5 speed and my issue is that when I am cruising along , and coming to a red light or a stop sign, I shift to neutral. My rpm stays at 1,000-1,200 rpm unitl I come to a complete stop, then the rpm drops back to idle at 650 rpm. Before I cleaned the TB, my rpm would drop to 200-300 rpm before kicking back up to 650 rpm. I checked the cable and there is no excess tension on it. Any idea what can cause issue with my rpm? It's wasn't too annoying until the snow came. I always down shift to slow the car down in the snow, but it has been much harder since my car's rpm stays at 1200 until I completly stop. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

 

Yep same problem and everyone gets it.. I cleaned mine and it used to stay at 1k and I adjusted this **** and dropped it back to 7.5k but still jumps up and down at every light hope this is not bad for the car if anyone has a fix please post it .

 

That happened to me but the problem went away after a week or so. I didn't use very much TB cleaner. I often hear of people spraying the whole can in there and the problems seem to last longer.

 

How much do you drive? I drive very rarly like 300 miles a month is a max..

 

i clean out my throttle body this weekend, and i drove it and it did the same thing, but then i let it run in my drive way as i was messing with the throttle cable and i drove it again after that, about 30 min later, and it was fine.

 

I've driven atleast 600 miles since my TB cleaning, I was going to try to clean it again. I only used half the can, and I never directly spryed the TB spay into the manifold. Maybe putting some sea foam will help, certainly can't hurt.

 

My idle was at 1200 then 1000 (the next day) after I cleaned the TB. I didn't want to mess with my idle so I left it alone and it became normal (~750) after a few weeks

 

My rmps are wierd too, I had my air flow meter replaced, and thats when they started. when i rev the engine to like 2k, the rmps then drop to like 400, then back to like 600, on my auto. dosnt really have any effect on my car though, i dont live where its cold, i live in florida if that affects anything.
its never stalled yet. but when my airflow meter went bad it stalled.

 

So is it dangourous to drive like this? Or push the car?

 

did you guys plug back the MAF sensor when re-assemble the intake system?

 

I am not sure how the Maf sensor looks like the only thing I left unplugged is a small wire that goes in a hole on the side of my cold air intake I put tape on top of the hole instead so air does not come out..

 

that "thing" is call the air temperature sensor. it doesn't really matter...
