LED experts help! Big Problem after LED climate control install
i just got through installing hyper whites into my manual climate control for my 96. basically, all i did was unsolder the old bulbs, sanded the new ones down, and stuck them in. i didnt use resistors or anything. the hyper whites i used were 5mm 5000 mcd (T1 3/4) from cwithk. when i stuck it back into the dash, i saw it light up, but only for a second. then it went out. now the ac doesnt work, and the only light that comes on is the temperature slider switch. could i have blown out the whole circuit board, or was there an installation error. thanks for all the help
You need resistors for the LEDs, otherwise they will burn out almost instantly. As far as the A/C not working I'm not sure, it's possible you shorted something while soldering. But as far as the LEDs go, they NEED resistors, nothing big, just something in series with em. Just take it back out, test the LEDs with a good multimeter(one with an LED tester). and make sure everything is clean. and all the connections both on the board and the connecter to unit are good. Hope that helps.
