I start out in second, and I still can't get traction.

BF Goodrich comp T/A's. I don't remember them being this bad in the snow, but they suck *****.

i have kumho 714 hp4 or watever the f they're called, practically brand new, and they suck in the snow too, im sure its not just the tires, i think its the fact that we're 5 spd as well, i've never had anyone who drives a 5 spd tell me that their car drives well in the snow

even the ecsta supra 712 ZRs aren't the best candidate for snow/rain....

my 5sp does pretty dam good in the snow. the tires are a huge part in it. i just told myself that i don't need high speed performance in the winter so i got some nice super soft sticky snow tires. i use my max to go skiing in the mountains from Denver, and it handles fine.
of course, there is also the whole driver ability thing, but let's not go there right now

you most be one of the lucky ones .
my car sucks big time i can't even stand in a cube of ice cause
i get stuck! and it's not the tires or the driver believe me ,
when it,s realy bad i use my wifes car (3rd gen auto)no
problens with it what so ever.
thats just a down side of a 5spd i guess

My car does fine in the snow. I have 5spd, but I also have Yokohama snow tires. It makes a huge difference compared to my summer tires.

That is because there is no torque in the Accord.

I almost got stuck in the couple of blocks limping to my parents to pick up their Intrigue for the day (daily practice these days) on new Touring T/As w/my 5-spd.

Of course, I don't think there's a whole lot any tire or transmission can do with a foot+ of snow on unplowed residential streets. After a plow went over them once it was fine.

My auto max is also good in the snow better than the 5spd. My 5spd is more fun to drive in the snow however. Traction in the auto is much greater b/c of the TCS.

Btw im trying my best to do a complete 360 and havent managed to get more than a 180. Is it possible to do a 360 ina FWD? My technique to get the 180 is putting the car in neutral while heading into a large intersection or parking lot then turn the wheel while pulling the Ebrake.....hehehe thats really fun but i want to and get the full 360......anyone got some hints? Is it possible?

No doubt its all in the tires, not the tranny.

comp TAs are not meant for snow, blizzaks are. I've had potenzas, kuhmos, and dunlops in the snow and they don't compare to blizzaks either.

The problem is that the high performance tires turn to rock when the temp drops below freezing, and the large tread blocks don't help either.

Yes its fairly easy to do MANY 360's, rather then just brake and 180 hit the gas while you are spinning to almost complete the 180 while holding the e-brake. Then just enjoy the G's - the most consecutive donuts I have made was 4.
