Stuck on what performance mods to do

I ALREADY have a y pipe and an intake. I WILL BE getting a full catback. I will then have around $950 to spend on other performance mods, and i have no clue what ones are the best to do for the money. I want to keep my car N/A so no NOS or S/C. Just tell me what you would do, thanks.

if u don't know what to do with ur money just let me have it, il use it wisely jk, i would go for a flywheel or a UDP, or maybe got with some light weight rims like 16's or 17's rotas from ebay, they are about 15 lbs compared to 40 lbs stock on a GXE im not sure what its for SE or GLE, it will help alot. There is also the carbon fiber hood, and a couple of other things. but not that many mods which sux. Im still waiting for nismo to come out with mods for the max, when is that going to happen?

Mevi and ecu. I was thinking about doing that until I came to my senses and realized my max was too far down the road in mileage to be putting that much money into, but before I realized that, the mevi/ecu seemed like the way to go. If not both, at least a ecu.

I don't think a 97 could get an ECU w/o problems.

Ya, some of my options i was thinking of were MEVI, JWT ECU, or Underdrive Pulley, but i dont know what one would help the most alone? prolly ECU? but something about 97s with the JWT something is wrong with it i dont know...But I just dont know which one would give the most power and so on.

You could get an MEVI, ECU, Test Pipe or High Flow Cat, better spark plugs, and that's about it....oh and a UDP..but IMO they don't do a whole lot!

$500 will get you spray kit will help you pick up some instant WHP right away.

save the other $450 for drop, or get brake system.

I don't know about the GXE's, but I have a 1999.5 SE, and the wheels weigh something like 19.6lbs. Lighter wheels are a good idea though. They will considerably help your performance if the wheels actually weigh that much. I don't know about 40 lbs though. That is a lot. That is like 20" chromies or something.

That's also what I've heard, with the wheel weights going from greatest to least (SE, GLE, GXE)

40 pounds sounds like the weight of the tire and wheel. I find it very unlikely that a stock sawblade or steelie weighs 40 pounds by itself.

SUSPENSION IS NOT PERFORMANCE I might get suspension, but im talking aobut what performance as in under the hood. Im getting 18's but are prolly not too much lighter. So if you have any PERFORMANCE mods you would suggest, please tell.

just get a JWT ECU. You may have a CEL but it's nothing more than a wiring 02 sensor error. It won't take away from your performance. It's harmless. Plus you will be kicked back into your seat with this mod.
I'm a 97se hoping on getting this ECU back from JWT in a couple of days.

Get some big Stickers .. Lots of HP .. Suspension not performance .. Pffff .. What about braking? Faster you go the more braking power is needed. Or is braking not defined under "performance" either?

being able to go real fast and not be able to handle it is
spend your cash on a good suspension. or get a mevi and chip like above mentioned its all thats left in that price range..other then a udp...

oh you said you were getting 18's? hello 4x4. buy some coilovers(JICs), RSTB, RSB(?),FSTB.

good luck with whatever you get.

You are way off. Stock GXE/GLE sawblades wheels are lighter than most rota 17" wheels. They are about 15-16lbs a piece.

Anyhow, If I were you I would definitely focus on suspension. Stock 4th gen handling is horrible.

INFO on MEVI/JWT ecu

Overall you do not gain ANY power overall under the entire RPM curve. The MEVI merely takes away power from the low/mid-range and adds it all back to the top-end, because the total power under the curve is nearly indentical between the two manifolds. This could explain why some are having trouble getting better 1/4 mile times with the MEVI.

USIM Average Power 4500rpm - Redline: 148.2 fwhp
MEVI Average Power 4500rpm - Redline: 156.2 fwhp

In the peak power band is where the MEVI really shines, and it adds an average of 8 fwhp overall vs the USIM. So if highway power is what you want, the MEVI gives you much better high speed pulling power than the USIM does. But around town, a USIM VQ would most likely pull on an MEVI VQ.

USIM: 166.60 average HP over 4000-5800RPM
MEVI: 167.26 average HP over 4350-6300RPM
Advantage MEVI by 0.66 HP (Why'd I spend $650 on this again? Read on...)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nealoc goes on to say that the MEVI has a slight advantage at the track because you are accelerating in a higher RPM range and avoid the 3-4 shift. He also says that after the 1/4 mile the MEVI Max would seriously pull on the USIM Max. Again I like my car to have streetable power and acceleration after 100 MPH would not be any use to me.

This is all quoted from reputable sources here on the ORG. THe $650.00 plus installation may not be worth it. I don't know if you've seen this SITE but there is'nt a whole lot of options short of forced induction (which you stated you don't want) via S/C, turbo, or NO2. That could be why there's a lot of suspension talk. Short of a Under Drive Pulley there just is'nt much else.

Are you manual or auto?
If you're manual, upgrade clutch/flywheel
If you're auto, try to get the VB mod
Get the pulley either way, it's worth it IMO

Plus one on the Mevi stuff that midknight maxx was talkin about. I dont doubt the power that it makes but I would rather have the low end power than top. Im not intereasted in how hard it pulls goin down the highway, Id rather have crazy power from a stop or slight roll......

If I had that much $ and same mods I would get UDP and NOS. Since your looking for NA power maybe Cams or port and polish.....

Though it isn't performance what is the sense of grabbing all the extra HP if you cannot handle the car properly. Suspension helps out a lot on our cars. It actually makes you feel like the car drives faster because it handles so much better. I had suspension before I had any performance on my car and I loved it. Made me drive faster.

I dont feel safe going fast around corners and what not w/ out being lowered a little bit, I wasn't expecting much if anything from my FSTB, It has been the best $20 I've spent on my car....

You gotta think, when you play GrandTurismo or whatever-what are the first things you upgrade....

Nope. I don't. Keesler is way down on the coast. 3 hrs away. I was just seeing how close he lived there (being friendly), because I have a friend that is stationed there and have gone to see her a few times. That's all.

What you do at Lackland?
