I lost the ability to search so I come to you guys for help.

I want to install in my 98 max the rear view mirror with compass and temp display.

Has this been done and is it easy to install?
Where would I get that rear view mirror and if there is a part number associated with it.

I think the i30 has it but what year would best suit our gen max?

You can get an autodimming rearview mirror from a 96-99 infiniti I30 to put in your max but it doesnt come with a compass or temp display. I got a mirror from a 97 I30 and installed it in my 99 maxima. It comes with four wires and was a little confusing to hookup until I got a wiring diagram from the I30. The mirror mounts to the roof as the manual mirror did but requires a different trim cover which I got from the local infiniti dealer for under 5 bucks. You can get more information on a windshield mounted dimming mirror with temp and compass from www.gentex.com which is the company that makes the mirrors installed in the new maximas. You can purchase the gentex mirrors from www.mitocorp.com for $249.00 I think.. the installation instructions are listed on the website. Hope this helps.
