Need help with 99 SE Engine Rebuild
I was at the junkyard this past monday and I ran across a salvaged 99 Maxima SE. Nothing was left of it except for the motor and the tranny. The tranny is a 5-spd and the car had 42k on the engine and tranny. Well just to get my hands dirty and to learn about engines, I made a guy an offer of $300. Well it came down to $350 and he would remove the engine and deliver it to my house. Well I got the motor last night, but I haven't started to play with it. Well you may be thinking how did I get it so cheap..the main reason is because the tranny seems to be screwed up. So I'm not really sure whats up with it...but I guess once i get down in there I'll see whats up. I'm hoping to work on this motor and tranny for a few months then install it in my 96 Maxima with the 5-spd tranny. I bought the Haynes Repair Book for the maxima....but I was just wondering if there are any good sites on how to rebuild a 5-spd tranny? I want to get started on the tranny first then move to reconditioning the engine. So if there are any good sites that might help..plz post on this tread. Thanks - Ray
P.S. - I'll be selling my engine/tranny this summer. 74k if anyone is interested PM or email me.

if the site is still up www.motorvate.ca, also if you're doin a swap like this do yourself a favor and buy a FSM... there are also several members here who know how to rebuild the manny tranny
Oh yeah, and what is wrong with your current trans? If theres nothing wrong with it it would seem like a waste to swap out somethin thats already there....

well the main reason im going to do the swap is that I can beef up the 99 engine so it can handle a SC. Thats one of the reason im going to install a 5-spd and beef up the V6 engine with new internal parts. Plus its a low mileage engine. But if it cost too much to beef up the engine then ill just keep my stock motor and just do a tranny swap.
